The Art Walk, Jacksonville, Florida, celebrated “The Spirit of Giving” on Tuesday, December 5, 2018.
I recently experienced a showcase of local art, cuisine, and music for family and friends. I met the many creative individuals who call Jacksonville, Florida, home. Browsed artwork, crafts, jewelry, and textiles by local artists all while enjoying Dia de los Muertos play throughout the evening.
For the kids, the Kid Zone on Laura Street provided entertainment by Game Truck, bounce houses, and a magic show by Crossroads Magic.
The Navy Band Southeast performed at Hemming Park. We enjoyed a few sample brews in the Jax Beer Festival. Military members received a discount. I signed the military appreciation banner and picked up a complimentary flag at the Art Walk tent. Thank you for your service!
The Art Center Cooperative presented artist Jef Taylor, and “Corners,” and their latest show.
The Jacksonville Main Library showed “Ties and Knots: Weaving narratives of Northeast Florida.” Opening remarks were at 6:30pm. The Florida Ballet 7pm. Screening “Astronaut Starbright” documentary 5:30 & 6:00pm. And ther was live jazz all evening.
MOCA Jacksonville and NOLA MOCA offered free admission 5-8pm where you could create original artwork.
Southlight Gallery provided live music and artwork by a featured artist.
First United Methodist Church offered free gifts at the Outdoor Christmas Market.
Chamblin’s Uptown had artwork and the opportunity to savor an excellent cup of coffee or a good book.
Dance Trance held a class called: “Experience a Dance Trance.”
The Jacksonville Landing might have been my favorite with brews, food trucks, live music, and local artists at #FrontPorchJax!
Friends of Hemming Park provided refreshments and concessions, cool swag, and information about upcoming events.
FINE EATS, HIGH TIMES:
We discovered the FSCJ International Club at 20 West Café.
Performances by BluPrint and Limitless Group were at Regions Bank Food Truck Village along with many excellent food choices.
Super Food & Brew hosted a Happy Hour from 3-6pm serving fine food coupled with craft beer and wine specials. Live music by Chelsey Michelle Music followed shortly after.
Breezy Jazz Club had free wine tasting, a happy hour from 5-8pm. and live music.
